Beydoun in his book American Islamophobia: Understanding the Roots and Rise of Fear.
A Balance of Grace and Growth
Ripple Consulting began in March of 2020. As we approach another year in the work, I’ve been pausing to reflect a lot. This isn’t too surprising, as I’m a chronic overthinker and constantly analyzing how I act, what I say, and how these are being received. While anti-racist and anti-oppressive work and organizing is far more than about me and I hope to avoid getting too deep into my navel gazing, this reflection feels crucial doing this work as a White person.

Islamophobia is a very personal topic for me. Growing up in New York, I lived among and knew many people who practiced different faiths. I was taught to respect and honor all people, their cultures and religious observances. My perspective was challenged, however, when a family member began practicing Islam.
